smaller pdf files..
I’m always having issues with this - for some reason when you want to apply to craigslist.org posts you get this error message “Craigslist has a 150KB limit on the messages we’ll send. Please reduce the size of your mail and try again.”
Of course my file is 400kb, not big but just too BIG for craigslist…
So what to do? google it..and figure it out and here are some tips - the best one was the last, saving from InDesign using the Adobe PDF option

design to save newspapers..
I was reading through the current Julie Braun Companies Show Stopper Newsletter and picked up a really inspiring design story -
Jacek Utko is a man on a mission; a mission to restore newspapers to their original glory. How? Through design. Watch as Jacek talks about newspapers, comparing them to musical compositions and other forms of art, and see how passion, good design and a bit of tenacity really bring about results.
I can relate because I truly believe good design can capture an audience and before you bury your product you should consider the design..plus consider the DESIGNER as being an important part of the equation. I think the problem is I fight for my say when really I’m usually in the environment where designers are not considered important..so a little road block on my end..
Nonetheless a little history - I worked for Julie Braun at clothing brand company - she was the VP Creative Director and was and still is one of the most inspiring, funniest, creative people I know - she is utterly and purely unique in every way and just a great person all around.
I look forward to her posts and try my best to read through them on the weekends, she’s next to CBS Sunday Morning as being one of my most favorite things..

clients from hell…
Fun Fact: As a graphic designer, 92% of your time will be spent on unpaid favors.

Seriously I am losing it lately..I usually go through this now and then but more so now..
Work. It’s a place I have never seem to have much luck with, I underestimate my skills, try to share my ideas (which I can say are usually pretty good and logical) without trying to be a know it all and my ultimate goal is to be better designer with never reaching that opportunity every time.
It seems every design position I’ve been in - I’ve tried to create and design and editors, publishers, sales, even janitors - they all want to do the designing and won’t let me just do that part of my job that really is MY JOB.
So I fight hard, as hard as I can but then in the end just have to let it go because it’s a constant struggle of insanity
Now if I put more effort into fighting for my own company, or going out to get more freelance then maybe I could let go of this other struggle and just fight for myself. and win.
So in the midst of my vent I found this site and I cried and laughed all at once because really - I’ve heard almost every single one of these scenarios in my years of freelancing and I don’t know why I thought for so long that I wasn’t able to put up with a lot, I have, I do and I probably will continue to do so..but helps to know others in my field are going through this

zach galifianakis..
I simply love him. Funny, confusing, weird..
My New Year’s resolution was to stop saying “you go girl” to myself.
I know he’s gotten a lot of buzz due to The Hangover movie - one of the funniest movies I’ve seen..but I remember him from awhile back doing stand up on Comedy Central and I thought he was crazy but really hilarious.
I like to read the Bible in really public places, like on the subway… and just mutter things to myself like “Oh, bullshit!”
His timing makes it work..
I have a lot of growing up to do. I realized that the other day inside my fort.
Hairy, fat and funny = still sexy in my book.
I want to start an all-boy Country trio, and call it The Chixie Dicks.

I’ve been playing around with Issuu..simply because it’s free

I’ve always had a dream of creating my own magazine..about what though I don’t know since my interests are all over the place..and I can get interested in many things at once to the point that I loose focus..so it would have to be about anything and everything…hmmmm Everything Magazine. That actually might work..
Drat. The url is taken and I should know this because I subscribed to it before - everything.com so much for that idea..well I won’t give up though. The magazine isn’t out there so..
Most recent copy of Golf Range Magazine - Winter 2010 using Issuu.com
